About Jeffrey

Jeffrey Decatur is a Broker Associate with RE/MAX Capital in Albany, with over 30 years of real estate experience. He has been involved with his local board the Great Capital Association of Realtors, since the early 1990’s where his committee work started with the Make A Wish Monopoly Tournaments and the Habitat for Humanity Bachelor Auctions. Jeffrey headed up what is now the GCAR Community Outreach fund. He has served on multiple GCAR committees. But his passion is advocating for real estate laws through GCAR’s REALTOR® Political Action Committee (RPAC) where he has served for numerous years organizing events and surpassing goal. In 2017, Jeffrey was honored by GCAR as the Realtor of the Year, and served as their President in 2020.

Jeffrey has served on the New York State Association of REALTORS® Board of Directors and Delegate body as well as RPAC Trustees, Executive, Nominating, Professional Standards, Global, Resort & Second Home Market, and Multiple Listing Service Issues as well as Policy Committees. He currently chairs the Legal Action Committee. In 2018, Jeffrey graduated from NYSAR’s Leadership Academy and also obtained his GRI Designation (Graduate Realtor Institute) On a National level Jeffrey is a NAR trained mediator, ombudsman, and has served on the Realtor Political Action Committee Participation Council and Major Investors Council.

Jeffrey is currently serving as the NYS President of the Residential Real Estate Council. (2025)

In his spare time Jeffrey can be found travelling, writing real estate classes, or working on one of his other charities. Jeffrey is also an instructor at GCAR’s school, the Real Estate Professionals Institute where he is know for his sense of humor and interactive teaching style.
